Acting With Boldness

Imagine a person standing before a large bridge that spans a deep canyon. They know that this bridge is well-built and reliable, having been constructed with the strongest materials and by expert hands. Because of this trust, the person steps onto the bridge with boldness and confidence, walking forward without fear, knowing the bridge will hold them up and lead them safely to the other side.

In the same way, 2 Corinthians 3:12 teaches us that because of the hope we have in God, we can act with boldness. Just like the person who steps confidently onto the bridge they trust, we move forward in life with courage and boldness, knowing that our hope in God is secure and unshakable.

Breaking Down the Analogy

  1. The Person Represents Us as Believers
The person in this analogy symbolizes us as believers. Just as they confidently step onto the bridge, we are called to live boldly because of the hope we have in Christ.
  2. The Bridge Represents Our Hope in God
The bridge represents the hope we have in God. Just as the person trusts the bridge to hold them safely, we place our confidence in God’s promises, knowing that they are strong and reliable.
  3. Stepping onto the Bridge Represents Acting with Boldness
The act of stepping onto the bridge symbolizes living with boldness. Just as the person steps forward without hesitation, we are called to act and speak with courage because our hope in God gives us the confidence to do so.
  4. The Safety of the Bridge Represents the Security of God’s Promises
The safety and reliability of the bridge represent the security of God’s promises. Just as the person knows the bridge will hold them, we trust that God’s promises will sustain us, giving us the boldness to move forward in faith.

Lesson from the Analogy

2 Corinthians 3:12 teaches us that because of the hope we have in God, we can act with great boldness. Like a person confidently stepping onto a well-built bridge, we are called to live boldly, knowing that our hope in God is secure. This verse reminds us that our confidence comes from the promises of God, which are strong and reliable. Just as the person trusts the bridge to carry them safely, we trust in God’s unshakable promises, allowing us to act and speak with courage in every area of our lives.
