The Power of Letting Go

Forgiveness is not weakness.
It is not pretending it didn’t hurt.
It is not erasing what happened.
Forgiveness is the choice to release someone from the debt they could never repay,
and in doing so, release yourself from the prison of bitterness.

Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:14–15,
“If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Forgiveness isn’t optional in the Kingdom, it’s essential.

We think holding on to anger gives us power.
But unforgiveness is a weight that keeps us tied to the very pain we want to escape.
It doesn’t punish the offender, it poisons the wounded.

On the cross, Jesus had every right to curse His accusers,
every right to call down judgment.
Instead, He said,
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
That wasn’t weakness.
That was world-shaking power.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean reconciliation with everyone.
It doesn’t mean trust is instantly restored.
But it does mean you stop carrying the offense in your spirit.
You place it at the foot of the cross and say,
“Jesus, You can carry this. I can’t anymore.”

Forgiveness is freedom.
Forgiveness is healing.
Forgiveness is choosing to let love speak louder than pain.

And when you forgive,
you don’t just release them
you release yourself.
You create space in your heart for joy, peace, and revival fire.

So today, the altar call is simple:
Let it go.
Not because they deserve it
but because Jesus has forgiven you more than you could ever repay.
And the same grace that covered your sin
is strong enough to cover theirs.
