In 1 Peter 5:6, we’re told,
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.”
Notice, it’s His hand that lifts, not our own.
When God enlarges your influence,
the temptation is to believe the expansion is proof of your greatness.
But Kingdom growth is never about building your name
it’s about making His known.
Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself
it’s thinking of yourself less.
It’s remembering that every platform, every open door,
is a borrowed stage from the King.
John the Baptist understood this when he said in John 3:30,
“He must become greater; I must become less.”
Even as crowds followed him,
he pointed them to Jesus.
Remaining humble means keeping your knees bent in prayer
even when your voice reaches further than it ever has.
It means deflecting the praise upward.
It means letting your success be a mirror that reflects His glory,
not a spotlight that blinds you.
Because influence without humility becomes idolatry
but influence with humility becomes ministry.
So when the invitations come,
when the numbers grow,
when the applause gets louder
hold the crown loosely.
And at the end of the day,
place it back at His feet.
Because the Kingdom isn’t impressed by how high you stand
it’s moved by how low you’re willing to bow.
