There will be moments where the world honors your work.
When your name is known in circles you used to just pray for.
When people follow your voice
but only heaven knows how often your knees hit the floor.
And that’s when it matters most:
Will you build legacy from the throne, or from your ego?
Because it’s possible to be remembered by people
and forgotten in the presence.
It’s possible to carry influence,
but lose your intimacy.
Legacy without Jesus is just reputation.
Legacy with Jesus is revival that outlives you.
Moses led a nation,
but he never stopped returning to the tent of meeting.
David ruled kingdoms,
but he still cried out,
“Take not Your Holy Spirit from me.”
Legacy was never meant to be built on your name
but on His nearness.
If the oil increases but the altar dries up,
you haven’t multiplied, you’ve drifted.
If the rooms get bigger but the worship gets quieter,
you haven’t grown, you’ve gotten distracted.
So let your intimacy outrun your influence.
Let your secret life with God weigh more than your public one.
Let your grandchildren talk about your tears in the prayer closet,
not just your sermons on stages.
Psalm 25:14 says,
“The Lord confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them.”
That’s legacy.
Not just passing down fire
but passing down friendship with God.
So when they ask you,
“How did you do it?
How did you build this?
How did you last?”
You won’t point to strategies.
You’ll point to the place where your forehead hit the floor
and His presence met you again and again.
Because true legacy isn’t what you leave behind.
It’s Who you stayed with while you were here.
And you?
You stayed with Jesus.
