When The Fire Costs You

We sing about fire.
We ask for it.
We preach it, post it, pray for it…

But no one talks about what happens
when the fire you carry starts to cost you.

When you lose friends because of your conviction.
When you walk alone because of your obedience.
When people celebrate your oil but never ask how much it cost you to crush.

But here’s the thing about real fire
it doesn’t just warm others.
It refines you.

Romans 12:11 says,
“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”
That word fervor in the Greek?
It means “to boil over. To be set ablaze.”

But you can’t boil if you’re never broken.
You can’t burn without being on an altar.
Revival fire doesn’t come cheap.
But it always comes with glory.

So if you’re weary, He sees you.
If you’re lonely, He’s near.
If you’ve been pouring out with no applause,
still burning with no one refilling
He’s about to meet you in the flame.

Because this fire doesn’t come from hype.
It comes from Him.

And He is the One who kept the bush burning in Exodus 3.
He is the One who danced in the furnace in Daniel 3.
He is the One who filled the upper room with tongues of flame in Acts 2.
He is the God who keeps fire alive when your flesh wants to quit.

So let the tears fall.
Let the ashes rise.
Let the cost remind you:
you’re not burning out, you’re burning through.

And when others ask how you’re still lit in a world so cold,
how you’re still praising with wounds still healing,
how you’re still showing up with nothing left to give
you can tell them:

“Because the fire wasn’t mine to begin with.
It was His. And He never runs out.”
