The Narrow Way

Our words have the power to build up or tear down, to heal or to wound. Ephesians 4:29 offers us profound guidance on the use of our speech, encouraging us to use our words as instruments of God’s grace.

4. Benefiting the Listener: We aim for our words to carry benefit — not only speaking truth but also imparting grace. Our conversations are not self-centered but other-focused, with the well-being of the listener as the priority.

5. Cultivating a Culture of Encouragement: Together, we cultivate a culture of encouragement within our communities. We recognize that the atmosphere of our churches, homes, and workplaces can be dramatically improved by the words we choose to utter.

6. Reflecting Christ in Our Communication: We seek to reflect Christ in our communication. As His ambassadors, we desire that our speech mirrors the grace and truth that He personified, leaving a fragrance of life with our every interaction.

7. Encouraging Accountability: We hold one another accountable in love, gently correcting each other when we stray from this path. It is in this mutual accountability that we grow and learn the art of speaking life.

Ephesians 4:29 challenges us to see our words as a powerful tool gifted by God, capable of imparting grace and fostering a spirit of love and unity.
