The Lord Is Our Helper

Let’s look at a powerful message—a reminder that we can boldly declare, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.”

Hebrews 13:6 reads, “So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’”

At the core of this verse lies the proclamation that the Lord is our helper.

To declare that “the Lord is my helper” is to acknowledge our dependency on Him. It’s an affirmation of our trust in His wisdom, provision, and guidance.

This declaration shifts our focus from our own limitations to God’s limitless power and resources.

The verse continues, “I will not be afraid.” This statement flows naturally from the assurance that the Lord is our helper.

When we recognize that we are not alone in our struggles, fear loses its grip on our hearts. Our confidence in God’s presence replaces anxiety with peace and worry with trust.

“What can mere mortals do to me?”

This question emphasizes the insignificance of human limitations when compared to the greatness of God.

No matter the challenges we face, no human power can overcome the strength and faithfulness of our Heavenly Father. As believers, we stand on solid ground, sheltered by God’s unchanging love.

Practical Steps For Unshakable Confidence:

  1. Prayer and Meditation: Spend time in prayer and meditate on God’s promises, reaffirming your trust in Him.
  2. Scripture Study: Immerse yourself in the Bible to discover the countless ways God has been a helper throughout history.
  3. Reflect on God’s Faithfulness: Recall instances when God has assisted you in the past, cultivating confidence for the present and future.
  4. Step Out in Faith: Embrace opportunities that require trust in God, recognizing His guidance and provision.
  5. Surround Yourself with Support: Engage with fellow believers who can encourage and strengthen your faith.

We are not left to navigate life’s challenges alone; God walks beside us, empowering us to face the unknown with faith and courage. Let this scripture be a constant reminder that fear can be replaced by trust, and that our Heavenly Father’s presence is the source of our unshakable confidence.

May our lives reflect the transformative power of declaring, “The Lord is my helper,” as we journey through the seasons of life with unwavering faith.

  2. I think the key for us doubting and insecure humans is we “say this with confidence”! We can only have the confidence we need through an unwavering faith.
