Rooted In Love

Ephesians 3:18 reads, “May have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”

When Paul speaks of the love of Christ, he uses language to emphasize that it goes far beyond human understanding.

He describes it as “wide” to imply that there are no boundaries or limitations to the extent of His love.

It reaches out to all people, regardless of race, nationality, or background. There is no one beyond the reach of His loving embrace.

The love of Christ is “long,” stretching through time and history.

It extends from the beginning of creation to the end of ages, encompassing all generations. It is a love that was demonstrated on the cross when Jesus willingly laid down His life for us, paying the price for our sins, and providing the ultimate example of sacrificial love.

Furthermore, Paul highlights the “high” dimension of Christ’s love, signifying its divine nature.

It transcends the earthly and temporal, rising above the trials and tribulations of this world. His love lifts us above our circumstances and grants us hope and assurance in the midst of life’s challenges.

Lastly, the love of Christ is “deep.”

It plunges into the depths of our souls, healing our brokenness and filling us with an unshakable peace that surpasses understanding. It is a love that seeks us in our darkest moments and carries us through the storms of life.

To grasp the vastness of Christ’s love, we must first experience it personally.

It begins with acknowledging our need for a Savior and accepting the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. As we surrender our lives to Him, we allow His love to take root in our hearts, transforming us from the inside out.

As we draw near to Him, He reveals the depths of His love to us, showing us the riches of His grace and mercy. Embracing the immeasurable love of Christ empowers us to love others in the same way.

Let us be rooted and established in His love, allowing it to guide our thoughts, words, and actions. May we be a beacon of hope to the lost and broken, sharing the message of God’s boundless love and the transformative power of the gospel.

  1. I needed to hear this today. My husband went in to heart surgery about a half hour ago. I need a BIG God today. I could not be with him due to issues of my own, but our daughter is with him. God’s love will bring us all thru this chapter because of His height, width and depth…
