Joshua 1:9 says, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
As Joshua prepared to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, God spoke these powerful words to him.
In this command, we find an invitation to step into our God-given purposes with confidence and boldness.
The call to be strong and courageous is not based on our own strength or abilities, but on the assurance of God’s presence and faithfulness. It is a reminder that we are not alone in our journey, for the Lord our God goes before us and walks beside us.
Fear and discouragement are common obstacles we face on our journey of faith.
They can hinder our progress, cloud our judgment, and rob us of the joy and peace that God desires for us.
However, God’s command to be strong and courageous reminds us that we do not need to succumb to fear or allow discouragement to paralyze us. With God by our side, we can overcome our fears, find strength in His promises, and press forward with confidence.
Embedded within God’s command is the promise of His abiding presence.
He assures Joshua—and us—that He will be with us wherever we go. This promise is not limited to a specific location or season but extends to every aspect of our lives. In times of uncertainty, challenges, or transitions, we can find comfort and confidence in knowing that God is with us.
His presence brings peace, guidance, and the assurance that we are never alone.
To fully embrace the promise of God’s presence, we must walk in faith and trust.
This requires surrendering our fears and doubts to Him and allowing His Spirit to work within us. We are called to trust in His wisdom, lean on His understanding, and follow His guidance.
As we step out in faith, aligning our lives with His Word, we experience the transformative power of His presence, enabling us to overcome obstacles and fulfill His purposes.
May we be strong and courageous, knowing that the Lord our God goes before us and walks beside us.
May we surrender our fears and discouragement to Him, trusting in His faithfulness and leaning on His strength. And may we walk in faith and trust, fully embracing the journey that God has called us to, knowing that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
